Bella's Bartok

If you’ve never listened to Bella’s Bartok, stop what you’re doing right now. Run to the nearest computer and listen to their uproarious, joyful, eclectic sound. The band plays a mesmerizing mix of Eastern European, Americana, punk, and pop music. Their live shows are theatrical, “a mix of The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Rocky Horror Picture Show” says frontman Asher Putnam. “We are the night and you are bound to boogie.” So, do yourself a favor, practice a little self care, throw your societal inhibitions to the wayside and let yourself get lost to the tune of Bella’s Bartok — before the tumult of daily life rears its ugly head once more.

Big Sandy

Over the last three decades, Big Sandy and his Fly Rite Boys have kept up a constant cycle of traveling back and forth across the lower 48, then hopping across the pond to Europe and beyond. They bring with them a brand of American music that has earned them an induction into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, several national television appearances, guest spots on The Grand Ole Opry, and a slew of adoring fans.

I truly love being out on the road, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to sing my songs all over the world, said Sandy. But when I'm away from the U.S. for too long, it's like I need a recharge... like I need a solid dose of everything Americana. Give me a Chuck Berry song while rolling down the interstate, or a truck stop conversation with a waitress who once danced with Lefty Frizzell, and I'm good for another three thousand miles .

The Atlanta Opera Presents: Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins is an intimate cabaret experience with opera singers, ballet dancers, and a composition by Kurt Weill written in 1933 during a tumultuous epoch in his native Germany. The work critiques capitalism, weaves in popular music stylings of the era, and, through song and dance, will envelop the audience into a story of sin and revelation. The opera centers on the duality of the opera’s personae, Anna I and Anna II. She/They embark on a seven-city pursuit of the American dream. In turn, they uncover each of the seven deadly sins: pride, covetousness, lust, wrath, gluttony, envy, and sloth. As is the case with all Discoveries series productions, this is not your standard opera.

Lantern Parade Party

Each year, Art on the Atlanta BeltLine celebrates our exhibition with a captivating and energetic Lantern Parade, created and hosted by Chantelle Rytter and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons. The glowing procession of light, music, and color illuminates the Eastside Trail on the first Saturday after Labor Day each year.

The Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade debuted on the Atlanta art scene in 2010, and has been growing ever since. In 2012, there were 1,200 participants and tailgaters along the parade route, and in 2015, the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade brought together more than 60,000 people for an awe-inspiring spectacle of lights and sounds.
